Singing School on Monday
Announcement of a singing school I’m teaching at RPI on Monday, in preparation for Carrie’s thesis show on Thursday:
This Monday, November 7th, from 6-8 PM, Jesse will be leading a singing school in West Hall at RPI
The session will be a participatory singing workshop introducing shape note music and a set of new songs about Roosevelt Island written by me (Carrie Dashow) and Jesse Pearlman Karlsberg.
The songs are short and long, happy, sad, and confused, but most are probably easy to sing. This is a great chance to learn a little about shape note music and an opportunity to support the work that Carrie and Jesse are doing.
The songs we practice will be sung at my thesis show at CAC on November 10th, where singers who attend this workshop will be joined by shape note singers from Eastern New York and Western Massachusetts.
So — please come sing our new songs!
Send Carrie or Jesse an e-mail if you’re interested.
