Election Year Rick
Rick Santorum, the Republican Senator whose Presidential ambitions currently rest on his ability to win re-election in an unexpectedly difficult Pennsylvania campaign is backing away from his support of the intelligent design movement. Santorum, currently trailing Democrat Robert P. Casey Jr., is breaking his association with a law center that vigorously defended the Dover, PA endorsement of itelligent design that was summarily rejected in the courts this week. Santorum had previously praised the Dover school district for “attempting to teach the controversy of evolution.” (Forbes)

Also, while we’re talking about Senator Santorum, I hadn’t checked the Spreading Santorum web site for quite a while, and it seems that in July of last year, Senator Santorum finally did comment on the association of his name with “the frothy mixture of lube and fecal matter that is sometimes the byproduct of anal sex” (and quite eloquently, I might add). Visit the site, and take a look at the video and letter featuring Santorum’s comments. This is definitely worth your time.
